What's going on here?
The big Sudoku X4 is the web app — click it and play right here in your browser. Nothing to install.
The row of icons underneath are installers, if you would rather have Sudoku X4 as a native app: iOS (via TestFlight), macOS, Windows, Linux, and Android.
The Windows download is a .zip rather than an installer: unzip it wherever you like and run SudokuX4\sudoku_x4.exe. Nothing here is code-signed yet, so the first launch gets a blue “Windows protected your PC” panel — the More info link reveals a Run anyway button.
The Linux download is a single AppImage file, not an installer, for 64-bit Intel/AMD PCs running Ubuntu 22.04, Debian 12 or anything newer. Save it, make it executable with chmod +x sudokux4.AppImage (browsers drop that permission), and run it. It uses the system's GTK 3, OpenGL ES and GStreamer with GStreamer's base plugins, and sound needs the good plugins too; most desktops already have all of them. If it says it cannot open libGLESv2.so.2, install libgles2 (Debian, Ubuntu) or libglvnd-gles (Fedora). If it says it cannot mount itself, the machine has no FUSE: run it as ./sudokux4.AppImage --appimage-extract-and-run.
Same puzzles either way.
